Prepare Now, Stay Comfortable Later: Why It’s Time to Plan Your Heating Budget

HEATING PLANNING IN CT BUDGETS

Late summer is when nobody wants to think about January fuel bills, which is exactly why it is a good time to do it. A little planning now spreads the cost out and takes the sting out of the coldest months.

Spread the cost with the Oil Budget Program

Our Oil Budget Program takes your estimated fuel use for the season and divides it into 10 even monthly payments. Automatic delivery is included at no extra charge.

If your usage changes a lot during the season, we adjust the payment so you are not left with a large catch-up bill. If you finish the plan with a credit and your account is in good standing, you can put it toward future deliveries or ask for a refund.

Let us watch the tank

On automatic delivery we track how much you burn and schedule the fill before you run low. That matters most in a long cold stretch, when a tank empties faster than people expect and everyone is calling at once.

Burn less to begin with

  • Have the burner tuned up once a year.
  • Change the furnace filter.
  • Seal drafts around windows and doors.
  • Check that the thermostat is reading correctly and set a schedule if it has one.

None of these is a big job, and each one means fewer gallons over the winter.

If you would rather pay as you go

You can also pay per delivery at our daily price, which is posted on the home heating oil page. The price per gallon is lower at 100 gallons and lower again at 300, so one larger fill usually costs less per gallon than several small ones.
